7 principles of PCK

The International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement is always guided in fulfilling its mission by seven fundamental principles that are constant and not influenced by current ideologies.

The International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, born out of concern for providing aid to the wounded on the battlefield without making any distinction between them, undertakes efforts both internationally and nationally to prevent human suffering and alleviate it in all circumstances. It aims to protect life and health and ensure respect for human dignity. It contributes to mutual understanding, friendship, and cooperation, as well as lasting peace among all nations.

Humanitarianism

The International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement makes no distinction on the basis of nationality, race, faith, social status, or political beliefs. It is solely focused on providing assistance to those in need, guided by their requirements and prioritizing the most urgent cases.

Impartiality

In order to maintain public trust, the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement refrains from participating in armed conflicts and — at all times — in disputes of a political, racial, religious, or ideological nature.

Neutrality

The International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement is independent. National Societies, while assisting public authorities in their humanitarian activities and subject to the law in their countries, should always exercise autonomy, allowing them to act at all times in accordance with the principles of the Movement.

Independence

The International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement provides assistance voluntarily, without seeking to achieve any benefits.

Voluntariness

In each country, there is only one association of the Red Cross or the Red Crescent. It should be open to everyone and encompass its humanitarian activities throughout the entire country.

Unity

The International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement encompasses its activities worldwide.

Donor Image

I have a very close relationship with my grandmother. Recently, I have been visiting her more often, and I see that she needs help. Tasks that she managed without any problems just a year ago are now overwhelming for her; she is not always as full of energy as she used to be. However, I know that many older people do not have someone like me. Being close to my grandmother has taught me how important it is not to leave seniors alone. Many live in loneliness and exclusion. This personally affects me.

I try to help elderly people. I don’t do it in an organized way, but in my daily life, for example, by carrying groceries or explaining how to use a smartphone. However, I think the easiest way is probably to make a donation. I know that even small amounts matter – it’s the scale of the effect that counts. A few zlotys from many people can make a big difference: purchasing food, hygiene products, support for those in crisis. Recently, I made a donation to the Polish Red Cross fundraiser.I believe that every form of support – time, energy, money – makes sense.

People changing the world

You can help others by being a volunteer, a blood donor or a rescuer. However, if you cannot get involved personally, it does not mean that you cannot help at all. The Polish Red Cross will do it for you. Sometimes a small payment is enough, thanks to which we can change the fate of people in need.

Together, let us create a society where no one should be forgotten.

Children should not worry about tomorrow – they should have time for play and development.
