Rescue Fund

Thanks to your support, the Polish Red Cross helps children, seniors, supports paramedics, promotes the idea of blood donation and carries out humanitarian activities that save human lives in times of armed conflicts or natural disasters.

Need

In 2024, drought affected as many as 15 voivodeships. The media bombards us with information about ongoing droughts and water shortages, while at the same time, we are struggling with intense storms. On one hand, we observe drying rivers and lakes, and on the other – when it does rain, we often face floods or inundations. There is also an increasing discussion about flash floods caused by heavy rainfall.

The September flood in southern Poland had tragic consequences, destroying the life’s work of many people. Water rushed violently into rivers, breached dikes, flooding nearby towns. The aftermath was dramatic: destroyed homes, roads, and bridges, evacuation of thousands of people, and enormous losses in agriculture and industry.

Poland is also becoming a country with a changing migratory character, experiencing a growing influx of foreigners, mainly from Ukraine, who are increasingly choosing Poland as their permanent place of residence. The conflict in Ukraine has led to an unprecedented influx of refugees, presenting Poland, including the Polish Red Cross, with the challenge of providing them shelter and protection.
