On Saturday, April 18, 2026, at the Construction School Complex in Bydgoszcz, the XXXII National First Aid Championships of the Polish Red Cross for high school students took place – regional stage. The event gathered eight teams that competed in demanding challenges testing their knowledge, reflexes, and practical skills in providing first aid.

The competition was at a very high level, and the participants showed great commitment and professionalism. After fierce rivalry, the final classification is as follows:

1. VIII High School named after Dr. Emil Warmiński in Bydgoszcz – 337 points

2. Construction School Complex named after Yuri Gagarin in Bydgoszcz – 328 points

3. IV High School named after Casimir the Great in Bydgoszcz – 327 points

4. VII High School named after Janusz Kusociński in Bydgoszcz – 294 points

5. General Education and Vocational School Complex in Solec Kujawski – 272 points

6. General High School named after Leon Wyczółkowski – 264 points

7. Mechanical School Complex no. 1 named after Franciszek Siemiradzki – 260 points

8. School Complex in Unisław – 253 points

The two best teams – VIII High School and the Construction School Complex – qualified for the district stage, which will take place on May 23, 2026.

Participants faced realistically prepared rescue scenarios. Among the stations were: cardiovascular resuscitation using AED on a QCPR mannequin according to ERC 2025 guidelines, limb fractures, the presence of a foreign body in the foot, fainting, finger amputation, electric shock with burns, seizure attacks, multi-organ injuries, including traumatic brain injury from a fall from height, as well as a case of substance overdose.

An additional attraction was the special competition in the relaxation zone, consisting of building a wall in the shape of a cross. The title of 'Master of the Perfect Wall' was awarded to the General Education and Vocational School Complex in Solec Kujawski, demonstrating precision, teamwork, and great technical skills.

The organization of the event would not have been possible without the support of many individuals and institutions. Special thanks go to the Mayor of Bydgoszcz, Rafał Bruski, for financial support, Magdalena Popielewska – Director of the Construction School Complex – for providing the venue and organizational help, as well as Anna Szymczyk for her tremendous involvement in preparing the championships.

We thank the volunteers from the ZSB for their professional embodiment of the roles of mannequins and for technical and logistical support. We also express our gratitude to the judges from the PCK Bydgoszcz Rescue Group and the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Humanitarian Aid Group, members of SIM, Chief Judge Kacper Fac, as well as Monika Przybylska – President of the Kuyavian-Pomeranian District Branch of PCK – and Danuta Szukalska – Director of the Kuyavian-Pomeranian District Branch for their presence and support. Thanks also go to the staff of the KP OO PCK.

The XXXII First Aid Championships of the PCK once again demonstrated how important education in the field of rescue is, and the high level presented by young people who may save human lives in the future.
