The ceremony for the Honorary Blood Donor Days is behind us!

Although the Days of Honorary Blood Donation of the Polish Red Cross, according to the Red Cross calendar, occur annually from November 22 to 26, we celebrated them ceremoniously in the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Voivodeship on December 11, 2025. The gala took place at the City Hotel and was a unique opportunity to summarize the activities and express gratitude to individuals and institutions involved in the development of honorary blood donation and humanitarian activities of the Polish Red Cross.

As every year, the event gathered representatives of the authorities of the Polish Red Cross, partners, volunteers, and honorary blood donors. The meeting began with a ceremonial welcome of the invited guests and a joint singing of the Hymn of the Polish Red Cross. During the event, the special role of honorary blood donors and volunteers was repeatedly emphasized, who every day – often in silence and without fanfare – save human health and lives, guided by empathy, solidarity, and the well-being of others.

During the ceremony, speeches were delivered by representatives of the authorities of the Polish Red Cross, highlighting the importance of honorary blood donation as one of the pillars of the health care system and the role of the PCK in its promotion and development.

One of the most important points of the event was the presentation of awards and distinctions to individuals and institutions particularly deserving of recognition for the Polish Red Cross.

The year 2025 is a special year for the Polish Red Cross – we are celebrating the 90th anniversary of blood donation in Poland, which began in 1935 with the establishment of the first transfusion facility in Warsaw by the PCK. This anniversary became an occasion to present commemorative thanks to individuals who have been engaged for years in spreading the idea of honorary blood donation and building a strong and lasting movement of blood donors in Poland.

Additionally, a commemorative medal was awarded on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of Honorary Blood Donation of the Polish Red Cross, as a token of appreciation for years of support and cooperation.

The ceremony was not only a form of gratitude and honoring deserving individuals and partners of the PCK but also an important moment for reflection on the significance of honorary blood donation as a symbol of empathy, solidarity, and social responsibility. The official part concluded with a joint gathering over refreshments, fostering conversations and integration among the event participants.
