Polish Red Cross First Aid Championships for Primary Schools – Bydgoszcz 2025
On December 6, 2025, the Polish Red Cross First Aid Championships for primary schools took place at the School of Construction in Bydgoszcz. The event gathered students from the region who had the opportunity to test their rescue skills in realistic and demanding scenarios prepared by PCK instructors.
The championships were led by Kacper Fac - chief judge. The participants and invited guests were welcomed by the Director of the School of Construction - Ms. Magdalena Popielewska, highlighting the importance of education in safety and first aid. Next, the Deputy Director of the Kujawsko-Pomorskie PCK District Branch in Bydgoszcz - Mr. Krzysztof Rębacz, spoke, pointing out the role of young people in building a society ready to help others. After the official opening, the teams drew starting numbers and began their competition.

Realistic scenarios and high level of participants
The participants faced five stations, where they had to deal with both practical tasks and a theoretical knowledge test. The scenarios included, among others, cardiopulmonary resuscitation using an AED, assistance to people who fell from heights, severely bleeding injuries, burns, head and eye injuries, as well as acute poisoning cases with psychoactive substances in a school environment.
The simulations were very realistic and dynamic - the situation often changed during the task, requiring the teams to make quick decisions, collaborate effectively, and manage stress.

As emphasized by Paulina Rubka, a first aid and health promotion specialist at PCK and organizer of the Championships - the level of this year's championships was exceptionally high:
"The teams were excellently prepared. It was evident that they did not come here 'to try,' but to truly showcase their skills. Their commitment, awareness of first aid principles, and manner of acting in difficult situations were impressive," she said.
She also pointed out how participants coped with pressure and the realism of the scenarios:
"Very challenging injuries, such as open fractures, falls from heights, or severe bleeding, did not throw them off balance. They approached the tasks with great calmness and focus, acting like true rescuers."
She also stressed that the championships are not just about competition, but above all about learning responsibility and courage:
"This event shows that first aid really matters. Knowledge and composure can save someone's life, which is why it's worth participating in such initiatives – even if someone is just starting their journey with first aid."
