Does anyone still write handwritten letters today? In an age dominated by fast messages sent with a single click, it’s hard not to long for the moment when a much-anticipated envelope appeared in the mailbox. Recognizing handwriting, the emotions accompanying the opening of a letter, and the feeling that each letter carries a personal mark of the sender – these are memories that many of us still carry in our hearts. Handwritten letters were particularly treasured, small works of art enclosed in a few sheets of paper.
On Thursday, November 20, 2025, at the PCK Senior Club, we had the opportunity to return to this beautiful tradition. Members of the PCK Bydgoszcz Humanitarian Support Group led a special calligraphy workshop. During the class, seniors practiced drawing letters with a pen – slowly, attentively, with full concentration – rediscovering the peace and satisfaction that comes from creating beautiful shapes.
The meeting took place in an atmosphere of calm and reflection. In the room, one could sense something extraordinary: that characteristic magic accompanying collective creation, when time seems to slow down, and thoughts begin to arrange themselves into elegant lines and careful letters.
It was an evening filled with nostalgia, art, and mindfulness – a return to simple but simultaneously extraordinary forms of self-expression.
