Give children a joyful holiday!
The holidays are approaching quickly, and the Polish Red Cross wants to help children who do not have a chance for a summer break. Among them is nine-year-old Igor. Since he was three years old, he has been raised by his almost blind father. To earn a little, Igor and his father help out at a nearby grocery store. Igor stocks the shelves, while his father carries heavier packages. A holiday trip has never been possible due to lack of funds. Igor is most afraid of returning to school in September when the teacher will ask to draw memories from the holidays – he will again have nothing to draw.
A small gesture - a great joy!
In Poland, there are more and more children in similar situations. That's why the Polish Red Cross organizes 7- and 10-day camp sessions, which for many of them are the first and often the only trip for many years.
Among the campers of the Polish Red Cross, there were also three children - a 12-year-old boy and two girls (10 and 7 years old). Their mother left when the youngest was only 15 months old. The father, a dedicated blood donor, managed to raise them until he lost his job. He worked part-time, but taking care of the children made regular employment difficult. The household lacked money for everything - bills, food, clothes. In winter, the father gave his shoes to his son and walked in holes. The siblings went on a camp with the Polish Red Cross, where they were provided with four meals a day: breakfast, lunch, snacks, and dinner. Throughout the camp, the children set aside rolls from their snacks to take home for dad.
I have been going to camp with our children from the daycare for 13 years. There were times when we also took children from the orphanage. For one of the trips, we qualified a sibling pair (10 and 12 years old). Their mother was ill with cancer and had a series of radiotherapy sessions. She didn't want the children to see her in that state - says Kornelia Głowacka, the manager and caretaker of the PCK daycare.
Your small gesture can bring great joy!
Every donation matters a lot:
55 PLN will fund breakfasts for one camper,
110 PLN will enable the preparation of lunches for one child,
245 PLN will cover round-trip transportation costs,
2000 PLN will allow for a full camp session for one child.
The Polish Red Cross appeals for financial support so that these holidays are filled with joyful adventures for all children because every child deserves a good childhood!

Where did the celebrations of Mother's Day come from?
On May 26, we celebrate a special holiday – Mother's Day. It is worth emphasizing that Mother's Day was one of the most important holidays celebrated by the youth of the Polish Red Cross in the interwar period.
