Officially, we can now say - the Final of the XXXI PCK Health Olympics with Biedronka has come to an end.

Although it was a competition, many participants emphasized one thing: "Above all, it's a great adventure and an opportunity to meet people from all over Poland!"

32 participants from primary and secondary schools had to go through 3 demanding stages beforehand to reach the grand final.

The final of this year's PCK Health Olympics with Biedronka took place in Łódź on May 25-26, 2024. The 32 finalists faced a challenging knowledge test in which they had to answer questions related to nutrition, health prevention, and ecology. Furthermore, the finalists reported on health-promoting activities carried out in local communities.

At Biedronka, we believe that education in proper nutrition and health prevention should be widely available to every one of us. This is a key pillar of our sustainable development strategy, which is why we are pleased to once again support such a noble goal as the Health Olympics organized by PCK. As the main sponsor of the event, in addition to financial support, we also provide substantive support for the organizers. Our nutrition experts consult on questions for each stage of the competition test, and two representatives from Biedronka sit on the jury, one in each competition category. We are impressed by the involvement and determination of the students, as well as the substantive knowledge they have demonstrated during all stages of the Olympics. We are happy that topics in the areas of health, prevention, and ecology play an important role in the awareness of the young generation. – saysZofia Fabirkiewicz, senior specialist in sustainable development at Biedronka.

Thank you once again to all participants! It has been a great pleasure to observe your development and willingness to change dietary habits among Poles.

We have been organizing the Health Olympics for over 30 years. Nearly 20,000 participants take part in the competition each year. Thanks to such competitions, we influence the level of knowledge and skills among the young generation. It is important to promote a healthy lifestyle, strengthen attitudes, and disseminate useful information. Poland occupies a dubious place among the countries where the percentage of children and adolescents with obesity is high. Therefore, we decided that the main theme of this year's XXXI edition of the PCK Olympics with Biedronka would be diet and movement. What distinguishes our Olympics is, in addition to knowledge tests, various health-promoting activities prepared and carried out by the participants. Olympians teach their peers, parents, and teachers healthy habits in practice, thereby influencing the shaping of attitudes in the local community - says Michał Mikołajczyk, member of the Management Board of the Polish Red Cross.

The PCK Health Olympics is a competition intended for students in grades 6-8 of primary schools as well as secondary school students. The competition consists of four stages - school, regional (county), district (provincial), and final. At each stage of the Olympics, participants solve a knowledge test covering issues related to health promotion, healthy lifestyle, healthy eating, promoting physical activity, ecology, as well as combating food and resource waste.
