People who moved to the Lower Silesia region after the outbreak of armed conflict in Ukraine will expand their professional qualifications, and as a result, they will find employment and improve their social situation - this is the assumption of a long-term project implemented by the Lower Silesian District of the Polish Red Cross.

Project New country - new chance I is a European initiative aimed at supporting the socio-economic integration of 40 adult citizens of third countries, residing in the districts: Wrocław, Wrocław district, Trzebnica, and Środa in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship. The project supports participants in adapting to life in Poland by enabling active participation in the social and professional life of the region and facilitating functioning in the new environment.

The project is implemented under the regional program European Funds for Lower Silesia for the years 2021-2027, Action 7.6 Integration of migrants. It is co-financed by the European Social Fund Plus.

The project is run by the Polish Red Cross / Lower Silesian Branch of the Polish Red Cross, which acts as the leader, in cooperation with the Liberation Foundation.

The project is aimed at individuals who:

  • are adult citizens of third countries (outside the European Union),

  • are legally staying in Poland (e.g., based on a residence card, visa, permanent residence permit, or temporary protection),

  • in particular, those fleeing the effects of armed conflict in Ukraine.

For individuals affected by Russia's aggression against Ukraine, required documents include, among others:

  • a document confirming the assignment of a PESEL number issued after February 24, 2022,

  • a certificate of temporary protection issued by the Office for Foreigners or,

  • another document confirming the crossing of the Polish border in connection with the conflict.

As part of the project, we offer the following forms of support:

  • Diagnosis of participants' needs.

  • Workshops on law, culture, and customs in Poland and the labor market.

  • Individual specialist counseling (including civil legal advice, assistance with residence legalization, document translation).

  • Psychological counseling.

  • Polish language course.

  • Vocational training (tailored to the needs, capabilities of participants, and labor market requirements).

  • Vocational internships.

  • Job placement (assistance in finding employment).

Expected results of project implementation:

  • At least 80% of project participants will acquire new professional qualifications;

  • At least 10% of project participants will take up employment after completing project activities;

  • At least 22.5% of unemployed project participants will improve their social situation.

Project duration: November 1, 2024, to February 28, 2026.
