Dramatic flood situation in southern Poland. The Polish Red Cross (PCK) is providing assistance and appealing for support
In connection with the disastrous flood situation in southern Poland, the Polish Red Cross (PCK) has expanded its rescue operations and launched a special collection for the victims. Breached dams in Stronie Śląskie and bridges in Głuchołazy have cut off many localities, deepening the humanitarian crisis.
Rescue Groups of PCK have been operating on site for over a day, delivering food, water, and essential supplies to evacuated individuals. In Kłodzko, broken dikes caused flooding in the city, destroyed the water supply network, and deprived residents of access to electricity. Rescuers from Wrocław and other cities are providing medical and logistical assistance there.
Assistance is also reaching Głuchołazy, where Humanitarian Aid Groups from Zielona Góra and Opole, together with local services, are providing shelter and hot meals to those affected by the disaster. Teams from Czechowice-Dziedzice, Bielsko-Biała, and Wrocław are also joining the efforts, with more ready from Poznań, Bydgoszcz, Zabrze, Kraków, Przemyśl, Sandomierz, and Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski.
– We are operating in very difficult conditions. The needs are immense, and the situation changes from hour to hour – emphasizes Michał Mikołajczyk from the PCK Management Board. – We encourage everyone to support our efforts. Your assistance can save human lives.
The special collection of PCK is ongoing – aid will reach those in greatest need, including in Stronie Śląskie, Kłodzko, and Głuchołazy.
