On the 26th-27th of October 2024, a motorboat helmsman license course took place at the Zegrzyński Lagoon, organized by SZTORM GRUPA.
The course was initiated by Mr. Marek Waszczuk (founder of SZTORM GRUPA) in response to the current flooding situation in southern Poland. 15 members of the Mazovian District Branch of the Polish Red Cross were invited to participate, including firefighters and soldiers involved in this year's flood response activities in the Lower Silesia Voivodeship.
During the two-day course, participants practiced maneuvering a motorboat, including maneuvers: approaching a person overboard, departing and approaching the quay, restricted circulation, and gliding, as well as tying knots and practical use of the acquired knowledge in the field of navigational marking in inland navigation.
“The training for the motorboat helmsman conducted by Sztorm Grupa was an amazing experience. The course was carried out in a very friendly atmosphere, with patience towards participants, conveyed knowledge, various tips, and curiosities that not only allow for passing the exam excellently but also for safe future travel on the waters.”
“On the 26th-27th of October 2024, I had the pleasure of participating in the motorboat helmsman training, which was conducted (free of charge for PCK members) by the Sztorm Grupa sailing school. This training was unique because we spent the entire two days not in lectures, but directly on the water practicing all the necessary maneuvers. The goal of this training was to increase our competencies in crisis situations, i.e., during floods, when it is necessary to rescue people or deliver essential products. From this place, I would like to thank Sztorm Grupa, because thanks to their commitment, the help we provide to others will be more effective.”
Thanks to such initiatives, the Polish Red Cross, by improving the competencies of its district branch members, gains the ability to operate more efficiently within crisis groups and to carry out the statutory tasks of the PCK in flood-affected areas as well as to build a support base enabling more efficient future task execution in the field of rescue.

The course was organized as part of the activities of the Honorary Blood Donors Club of the PCK “DREWNICA”
