10 years OKO

This charitable organization was established in 2014 out of concern for the surviving soldiers of the Warsaw Uprising, by virtue of an agreement between the Warsaw Medical Society, the Mazovian District of the Polish Red Cross, and the Union of Warsaw Uprising Veterans. The aim of the "OKO" Corps is to provide care for the Warsaw Uprising veterans and combatants who, due to their health condition, require daily home care.

The hosts of the Saturday ceremony were the President of the Warsaw Medical Society – Prof. dr hab. med. Jerzy Jurkiewicz and Prof. Jerzy Kotowicz – Vice-President of the Mazovian District of the Polish Red Cross. In a solemn atmosphere of memories regarding the establishment of the "OKO" Corps, we could watch archival films and photos documenting, above all, the invaluable dedication and immense courage of the nurses operating during the Warsaw Uprising. It is their boundless sacrifice that inspires the Sisters of the Polish Red Cross, who provide daily assistance and care for the living Warsaw Uprising veterans.

For all this, the Sisters, Caregivers, and Volunteers of the Polish Red Cross were appreciated with diplomas and gifts and received immense thanks from the hosts of the meeting, the management of the Mazovian District of the Polish Red Cross, and, above all, from the veterans and combatants.

The ceremony took place in a very pleasant, joyful, sometimes heartwarming atmosphere, enhanced by a fantastic artistic program and delicious refreshments.
