Yesterday, October 16, at the headquarters of the Polish Red Cross Headquarters in Warsaw, a ceremonial award presentation took place for the winners of the Gold Fever PCK 2024 action in the Masovian Voivodeship.

The Masovian Branch of the Polish Red Cross has been organizing this action for 23 years. Gold Fever PCK is a fantastic initiative aimed at collecting "golden" coins of 1, 2, and 5 groszy denominations primarily in schools, kindergartens, companies, and during street collections. The money collected during the action supports, among other things, educational assistance for children and youth, their recreation, providing warm meals for those in need, and promoting the idea of volunteering.

One of the statutory activities of the Polish Red Cross is educational and care activities addressed to the child and youth environment; therefore, PCK conducts educational actions, child feeding actions in educational institutions, community centers, canteens, organizes summer recreation, and equips children and youth from less affluent families with school supplies.

To carry out these activities, the Polish Red Cross obtains financial resources from targeted grants from institutions and legal entities and through the organization of collections. One such collection is the "Gold Fever PCK".

This year, our action was joined by:

  1. Public Library in the Wola District of the Capital City of Warsaw

  2. Container Nursery of the Capital City of Warsaw

  3. Youth Cultural Center named after Maria Gwizdak in Warsaw

  4. Public Library named after S.Staszic Bielany

  5. Museum of the Palace of King John III in Wilanów

  6. Center for Extracurricular Activities No. 3

  7. Dormitory No. 6

  8. 7-35 Work Brigade

  9. Psychological and Educational Counseling Center No. 2

  10. PKP Polish Railways S.A.

  11. Special Educational and Care Center named after St. Stanislaus Kostka

  12. County Command of the State Fire Service

The results in numbers are very impressive.

Children from educational institutions in Masuria collected a total of 6322 kg of 1, 2, and 5-groszy coins, including our Partners who collected over 1800 kg of coins, individual persons – 31.6 kg and the value of all coins is about 60,000 PLN, which this year we allocated mainly to support summer recreation based on individual support and participation in sports camps. The funds that are still in the bank's counting room will certainly be deposited into our account soon and will be designated for educational support for children.
