It has been half a year since the project WOLA I PCK SENIOROM 2024 started, and MOO PCK volunteers have already helped 40 seniors and completed 503 visits.
In addition to assisting with daily activities such as grocery shopping or taking out the trash, they also help with getting to the doctor, the office, or walking the dog. There are often shared walks, reading books, or simply having a regular conversation. There have also been more challenging situations where volunteers visited seniors in the hospital or helped with general cleaning or painting of the apartment.
Our volunteers are people full of empathy and good hearts, who dedicate their time to make life easier for the elderly. Thanks to their support, seniors can feel safer and more comfortable every day. With the funds from the City of Warsaw, supported by the Wola District Office, cinema tickets were purchased, which we could give to volunteers as a small token of gratitude for the support given in the project.
For them, training in first aid was also conducted. It was not only a course but primarily an opportunity to acquire skills that can save lives. Volunteers learned how to effectively respond in emergency situations, such as fainting, falls, or breathing problems. The training not only raised the level of security for our charges but also strengthened the volunteers' confidence in their daily activities.
With the knowledge gained, they can support seniors with greater calm and professionalism, knowing that in case of need, they can react quickly and effectively. As part of the continuation of the project for the next 5 months, we have also planned several special events: celebrations of Senior's Day, Volunteer Day, and yet another first aid training, and to conclude the project, a joint Christmas meeting. These moments will allow us to further integrate our community and celebrate together the time we have spent together.
