Final of the tournament „Fiery Rescuer – Hot Blood”

On February 4, 2024, the provincial final of the XVIII edition of the honorary blood donation tournament named "Fiery Rescuer – Hot Blood" took place in the hall of the Provincial Command of the State Fire Service in Łódź.

Our ceremony was graced by the presence of: Dorota Ryl – Łódź Voivode, Brigadier General Grzegorz Janowski – Provincial Commander of the State Fire Service in Łódź, Senior Brigadier Paweł Malinowski, Deputy Provincial Commander of the State Fire Service, Vice President of ŁOO PCK, Brigadier Krzysztof Sobieszek – Deputy City Commander of the State Fire Service in Łódź, Sławomir Emanuel – President of the City Board of the Volunteer Fire Brigades Association in Łódź, member of the National Board of the Volunteer Fire Brigades Association of the Republic of Poland, Dr. Małgorzata Widawska – Łódź State Sanitary Inspector, Edyta Wcisło – Director of the Regional Blood Donation and Hemotherapy Center in Łódź.
The aim of the annual program is to improve the supply of blood to healthcare services, to activate local firefighting communities in voluntary blood donation, to strengthen cooperation of the Polish Red Cross at all organizational levels with the appropriate structures of the State Fire Service and the Volunteer Fire Brigades Association of the Republic of Poland, to develop a stable model of participation for professional firefighters and volunteers in saving human lives through blood donation, and to promote voluntary blood donation and encourage local communities to actively participate in this form of humanitarian activity for the sake of others.
In the provincial stage of the tournament, we awarded prizes in three categories.
I. Most Active PSP Unit (3 places)
II. Most Active OSP Unit (3 places)
III. "Fiery Rescuer" – Most Active Individual Firefighter (3 places)
The Honorary Patronage over the Tournament was held by: the Łódź Voivode, the Marshal of the Łódź Voivodeship, and the State Provincial Sanitary Inspector in Łódź. As every year, the regional partner was the Regional Blood Donation and Hemotherapy Center in Łódź.
During the XVIII edition of the Tournament, firefighters donated a total of 744.460 liters of blood, of which PSP firefighters donated 391.610 ml, OSP firefighters 291.600 ml, and JRG firefighters 61.250 ml.

I place – County Command of PSP in Koluszki
II place – County Command of PSP in Opoczno
III place – County Command of PSP in Zgierz
In the category of Most Active OSP Unit:
I place – OSP Brudzewice
II place – OSP in LututówIn the category "Fiery Rescuer" – Most Active Individual Firefighter:
I place – Sławomir Krzysztof Wielgus (OSP Brudzewice)
II place – Captain Krystian Bernaciński (PSP Koluszki)
III place – Junior Brigadier Michał Mirowski (PSP in Zgierz)Distinction – Junior Brigadier Marcin Ledzion (PSP – JRG No. 8 – Łódź)
Additionally, we decided to award prizes in the category "Most Active JRG":
I place – JRG No. 8 in Łódź
II place – JRG No. 6 in Łódź
III place – JRG Skierniewice
We thank the Łódź Voivode for funding the statuettes and the Regional Blood Donation and Hemotherapy Center in Łódź for preparing small gifts for the blood donors. We also thank the Provincial Commander of PSP in Łódź for providing the hall.
