There is no leave from blood donation

The summer period is associated with relaxation and carefreeness. Unfortunately, it is also a time when Blood Donation and Transfusion Centers face blood shortages. In some places the number of blood donors drops by as much as 50%. The main reason for this situation is: an increased number of accidents while the number of donors decreases. The high number of accidents in the summer months is caused by an intensified traffic associated with the holiday period. Last year, from June to August, there were 6,538 road accidents, resulting in 7,568 injured people. In many cases, in order to save the health or life of the injured, blood was needed. Remember that the only source of it is another human being.

Polish Red Cross announces a competition for blood donors who will donate blood during the summer (from July 1 to September 30) at one of the Blood Donation and Transfusion Centers. The goal of the competition is to encourage Poles to regular blood donation to ensure the stability of blood supplies in our country during the summer. Attractive prizes await the most active donors.
