About the program
"Holiday Drop of Blood" is a nationwide campaign of the Polish Red Cross, the aim of which is to supplement the shortage of blood during the holiday season. The program is carried out in all branches of the Polish Red Cross throughout Poland and includes various initiatives related to the promotion of voluntary blood donation and the organization of blood collections.
Thanks to the involvement of local communities, blood donors and volunteers, the campaign aims to encourage as many people as possible to donate this priceless medicine that saves lives.
Need
Holidays are a particularly difficult time for blood banks. From June to August, due to vacations and trips, many regular blood donors do not donate blood regularly. Blood banks regularly appeal for urgent replenishment of supplies to ensure that there is an adequate amount of blood necessary to save lives in emergencies.
Unfortunately, at the same time:
The number of traffic accidents on roads leading to tourist regions is increasing,
The demand for blood is growing due to agricultural accidents resulting from fieldwork,
Accidents often affect children, who constitute a particularly vulnerable group.

Thanks to the wide reach of the campaign and the active support of local branches, "Summer Blood Drop" effectively helps to fill blood shortages and raise awareness about the importance of voluntary blood donation. The program addresses the need to ensure stable blood supplies during the summer period by:
Blood donation organization
blood donation campaigns are held in all PCK branches across the country at permanent and mobile collection points.
Local initiatives
collaboration with Regional Blood Donation and Blood Treatment Centers, local governments, and partners in organizing events promoting blood donation.
Engagement of Blood Donors
activating both regular and new blood donors through motivational and community actions, aimed at collectively supporting blood banks.
