About the competition
The “Strength of Blood Women” program is a nationwide competition for honorary blood donors, the aim of which is not only to donate blood, but also to encourage other women – friends, mothers, daughters or sisters – to join the idea of honorary blood donation. The initiative, organized by the Polish Red Cross, shows the huge role of women in saving health and life.
The competition lasts from December 2, 2024 to February 28, 2025, and the results will be announced on March 8, International Women's Day. The Polish Red Cross will reward the most active participants who inspire the largest number of first-time donors to donate.
Need
Blood is a priceless medicine that cannot be produced – it can only be shared. Every year, blood banks face the challenge of maintaining a steady supply of blood that is essential for saving the lives of the sick and victims of accidents.
Statistics indicate that women make up only about 24% of voluntary blood donors in Poland, highlighting the need to engage women in this area. Through the "Strength of BLOODwomen" contest, the Polish Red Cross aims to raise awareness, increase women's involvement, and emphasize their enormous contribution to the idea of blood donation.

The program "Strength of Blood Donation" supports honor volunteering for blood donation through a series of activities aimed at empowering women and promoting the idea of sharing blood:

Schedule and organization
The "Blood Donation Power" program is carried out within specific time frames:
- Duration of the competition: December 2, 2024 - February 28, 2025.
- Announcement of results: March 8, 2025 (International Women's Day).
During the program, participants donate blood and inspire other women to take this step. In the finale, the honorary blood donors who bring in the most new blood donors will be awarded.
