We have just completed the 33rd edition of the PCK Health Olympiad with Biedronka. This year, particular emphasis was placed on the mental health of youth, coping with stress, building well-being, and mutual support. Over three days of final competitions, participants not only tested their knowledge but also presented their original social initiatives implemented in their schools and local communities.
From May 15 to 17, the national final of the PCK Health Olympiad with Biedronka took place in Łódź, one of the largest and most important educational projects promoting a healthy lifestyle, health prevention, and social activities among young people. Students from grades 6-8 of primary schools and secondary schools from all over Poland came to the city. They were the best participants from earlier stages of the competition (regional and district) who earned advancement from over 23 thousand participants.
Demanding knowledge test
The first day of the final began with the official opening of the event. The organizers welcomed participants, guardians, partners, and guests, emphasizing the importance of health education and the involvement of young people in social activities.
The most important point of the day was the knowledge test, during which students solved a knowledge test with 100 single-choice and multiple-choice questions on health, prevention, and ecology.

Original health-promoting actions
On the second day of the final, participants presented their original health-promoting initiatives to the competition committee, which they had previously implemented in their schools and local environments. Separate committees evaluated students from grades 6-8 and youth from secondary schools.
Among the presented initiatives were, among others, "jars of gratitude" and motivational boards helping to see the positive aspects of everyday life, integration workshops, activities connecting youth and seniors, treasure hunts, information campaigns, educational activities, and projects promoting physical activity and discussing emotions. Students also prepared posters, presentations, and social events encouraging mutual support and care for mental well-being.

The jury assessed the presentations according to several criteria, taking into account, among others, the relevance and originality of the topic addressed, the substantive value of the project, the scope of activities, the method of documentation, and the ability to present the effects of the implemented health-promoting actions. The final result of the Olympiad was decided by the sum of points earned during the knowledge test and the presentation of the social project.
Integration and good fun
The final of the PCK Health Olympiad with Biedronka was not only about competition and testing knowledge. The organizers also ensured the integration of participants and the creation of a space for sharing experiences and ideas. In the evening of the first day, integration activities for youth and guardians were held, and on the second day, a trip down Piotrkowska Street, one of the most characteristic spaces in Łódź, took place.
Throughout the entire final weekend, participants could take part in an additional competition about next year’s edition of the Olympiad. The task was to propose a theme for the next edition of the event along with justification. This initiative allowed youth to have a real impact on the direction of the project’s development and to co-create activities related to health education.

The grand finale
The final of the Olympiad concluded on May 17. During the announcement of the results, the enormous engagement of young people, the high level of knowledge of the participants, and the significance of the social actions carried out by the finalists were emphasized.
The PCK Health Olympiad with Biedronka shows this year that young people want to talk about mental health, relationships, and responsibility for others. It is incredibly important that they can translate knowledge into concrete social actions that impact their peers and local communities. As the Polish Red Cross, we believe that initiatives like this build social sensitivity, teach empathy, and encourage mutual support.
The competition was extremely challenging, and the stakes were high. The winner in the category of secondary schools received the opportunity to choose an index for the Medical University of Łódź or the Medical University of Białystok.
The winners of the PCK Health Olympiad with Biedronka 2026 in the category of grades 6-8 of primary schools were:
Jakub Rydlewski – Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship
Julia Karolak – Lublin Voivodeship
Lena Suwara – Silesian Voivodeship
In the category of secondary schools, the winners were:
Maja Giermak – Pomeranian Voivodeship
Blanka Katarzyna Kołodziej – West Pomeranian Voivodeship
Izabela Kot – Lublin Voivodeship
There is no other Olympiad that has such good organization and such exceptional participants . Mental health was at the center of this edition of the competition. If I were to give advice to my peers, I would say that it is best to limit phones and not take everything that appears on social media seriously because much of the content there is harmful.

The strategic and substantive partner of the PCK Health Olympiad is the Biedronka chain, which has been supporting educational activities related to health and prevention for years.
This year's edition of the PCK Health Olympiad with Biedronka, dedicated to mental health, drew attention to an incredibly important aspect that is an integral part of our overall well-being. We are increasingly seeing that mental health is closely related to lifestyle – what we eat, how often we move, and what habits we build daily. By supporting the Health Olympiad, we are engaging in the education of the younger generation and promoting awareness in this area.
The PCK Health Olympiad with Biedronka has been showing for years that young people want to actively participate in social activities, develop knowledge, and respond to the real needs of their local communities. This year's final once again proved that health education can go hand in hand with empathy, creativity, and social responsibility.

Children need support every day. The Polish Red Cross responds to their needs.
As many as 364,000 Polish children live in extreme poverty. What does this mean? In practice, basic needs for nutrition and healthcare are not met, which threatens the health of children and, in extreme cases, even their lives.

The Polish Red Cross is conducting a 2026 labor market study in Poland. Why can some people find jobs while others cannot find employees?
The Polish labor market is facing challenges: on the one hand, companies are struggling to find workers, and on the other, many people are struggling to find employment. The Polish Red Cross is launching a nationwide labor market study, 2026, to explain the causes of this discrepancy and how to reduce it.
