A new edition of the "Share a Smile" program has started

At the beginning of September, the 11th edition of the Orbit® educational program "Share a Smile" was launched, implemented by Mars and the Polish Red Cross in collaboration with the Polish Dental Society and the Polish Society of Pediatric Dentistry.150,000 children from all over Poland will take part in educational activities!The latest version of the program has also been expanded to include kindergarten children from school and preschool classes, for whom dedicated materials have been prepared.With the new school year, another – the 11th edition of the educational program "Share a Smile" was launched, implemented by Mars and the Polish Red Cross. The initiative aims to educate children from grades 0-3 in primary schools across Poland about proper oral hygiene. 1% of the sales of Orbit® gum in brick-and-mortar stores from 28.08 to 29.10.2023 will be donated to the implementation of the program, including materials and educational activities for up to 150 thousand children.This year, the initiative has also been expanded to include kindergarten children from preschools and schools. The program's ambassador, for the fifth time, is actress and social activist Magdalena Różczka.
The nationwide program "Share a Smile" was created in 2013. The project is a response to the persistent problem of dental caries among the youngest children. This disease can be associated with many unpleasant consequences and increase the risk of other ailments. From the very beginning, the Polish Dental Society and the Polish Society of Pediatric Dentistry have been the substantive partners of the initiative.
According to estimates from the Ministry of Health, the problem of dental caries affects nearly 82% of six-year-olds[1], while a WHO report "Global Oral Health" indicates that as much as 46% of cases of dental caries among children up to 9 years old go untreated[2]. This is why it is so important to raise awareness of how crucial proper oral hygiene is and to educate both children and their parents.As a socially responsible company and producer of sugar-free gums, the chewing of which is an important element of proper oral hygiene, we have been jointly implementing the program "Share a Smile" with our partners for over a decade. Thanks to this unique collaboration, we consistently teach children how to care for a healthy smile. The program is fully funded by Mars Poland. We are pleased that this year, thanks to the support of partners, but above all consumers who buy Orbit gum in brick-and-mortar stores during the specified period, we will have the chance to reach up to 150 thousand students– says Monika Piekarska, Corporate Affairs Manager at Mars Poland.For over 10 years, our joint program has undergone numerous changes. It has naturally evolved to ensure that the knowledge conveyed is attractive and engaging for students. As part of the 11th edition, we decided to include younger children – kindergarteners.Thanks to modern forms of communication and the expansion of the program, we are able to reach an increasing number of children and their parents, raising awareness of how serious a social problem dental caries is and teaching how to counteract it– adds Małgorzata Szukała, Manager of the Promotion and Revenue Generation Department at the Polish Red Cross.
The Orbit program "Share a Smile" is based on classes conducted in schools and in kindergarten classes. Organizers provide teachers with engaging and curriculum-compliant materials that allow for effective education and the establishment of proper habits among students. Over the course of 10 years of the initiative, nearly 900 thousand children from all over Poland have participated in it.
The aim of the Orbit "Share a Smile" project is to convey knowledge in an accessible way, utilizing four steps for healthy and clean teeth that can easily be incorporated into daily routines:Brush – Clean your teeth thoroughly with fluoride toothpaste at least twice a day.Clean – Use additional oral hygiene products to clean between your teeth.Chew – Chew sugar-free gum after eating and drinking for 10 minutes when you can’t brush your teeth.Control – Regularly visit the dentist every six months.The current state of oral health prevention among children requires our constant attention and engagement. Through the Orbit "Share a Smile" program, we support active education in this area from a young age, believing it will yield lasting effects and contribute to improving children’s oral health in Poland.This has a huge impact on shaping future health habits

Przez ponad 10 lat nasz wspólny program przechodził liczne zmiany. W naturalny sposób ewoluował, żeby przekazywana wiedza była atrakcyjna i angażująca dla uczniów. W ramach 11. edycji zdecydowaliśmy się objąć działaniami również młodsze dzieci – zerówkowiczów. Dzięki nowoczesnym formom przekazu oraz rozszerzeniu programu, możemy docierać do coraz większej liczby dzieci i ich rodziców, uświadamiając jak poważnym problemem społecznym jest próchnica i ucząc jej przeciwdziałać
Program Orbit „Dziel się Uśmiechem” opiera się na zajęciach prowadzonych w szkołach oraz w zerówkach przedszkolnych. Organizatorzy przekazują nauczycielom angażujące i zgodne z podstawą programową materiały, pozwalające na efektywną edukację i budowanie prawidłowych nawyków wśród uczniów. W ciągu 10 lat trwania inicjatywy, wzięło w niej udział blisko 900 tysięcy dzieci z całej Polski.
Celem projektu Orbit „Dziel się Uśmiechem” jest przekazanie wiedzy w przystępny sposób, wykorzystując przy tym cztery kroki dla zdrowych i czystych zębów, które w łatwy sposób można włączyć do codziennej rutyny:
Szczotkuj – Myj dokładnie zęby pastą z fluorem przynajmniej 2 razy dziennie.
Czyść – Stosuj dodatkowe środki higieny jamy ustnej, aby oczyścić przestrzenie międzyzębowe.
Żuj – Żuj bezcukrową gumę po jedzeniu i piciu przez 10 minut, gdy nie masz możliwości umycia zębów.
Kontroluj – Regularnie, raz na pół roku, odwiedzaj stomatologa.
Aktualny stan profilaktyki jamy ustnej wśród dzieci wymaga naszej stałej uwagi i zaangażowania. Poprzez program Orbit „Dziel się Uśmiechem” wspieramy aktywną edukację w tym zakresie już od najmłodszych lat, wierząc, że przyniesie ona trwałe efekty i przyczyni się do poprawy zdrowia jamy ustnej dzieci w Polsce. Ma to ogromny wpływ na kształtowanie przyszłych nawyków zdrowotnych
