DOBRO collection of books. New campaign of the Polish Red Cross

The Polish Red Cross is launching a new charity campaign. The GOOD collection of books will be conducted as a pilot in 5 Voivodeships.
The idea of the campaign is simple: the PCK is reaching out to people who have read books at home - they can be transformed into real help. You just need to bring new or used (in good condition) books to selected branches of the Polish Red Cross or to one of the temporary collection points. The publications will go to our partner - an online antiquarian bookstore. The funds obtained from their sale will be used for assistance activities.
Funds from the GOOD collection will allow for:
the purchase of school supplies and assistance for children,
the organization of workshops and educational and activation meetings for children, seniors, and people in difficult life situations,
the operation of community centers, senior clubs, and PCK Integration Centers,
providing emergency assistance to people in crisis (e.g. warm clothing, footwear, food and hygiene packages).
What books do we accept?
new or used books in good condition,
professional, scientific, and popular science books (including those in the field of psychology, sociology, medicine),
current academic textbooks,
fiction and popular literature (social issues, crime novels, thrillers, romances, young adult, fantasy, science fiction),
cookbooks and guides,
children's literature and comics,
language dictionaries and sheet music.
What books do we not accept?
books showing signs of intensive use,
school textbooks and materials for teachers,
outdated school readings,
encyclopedias, lexicons,
legal codes, laws, and commentaries,
newspapers, magazines, and catalogs,
free promotional copies,
maps (including road maps).
Pilot in five voivodeships
The campaign is conducted in PCK branches in the following voivodeships: Lublin, Masovian (including BZG), Podlaskie, Pomeranian, and Silesian. Book collections will also be organized, among others, in schools, offices, or during local events and picnics. Details will be published on the social media of the district branches.
Helping is simple
The GOOD collection is an easy way to support local assistance activities. It just takes one decision - to donate books that can gain a second life. Check your shelves, choose titles, and bring them to the nearest PCK branch. Together we can do more good.
