DHL Group in Poland joined the nationwide assistance campaign by providing financial support to the Polish Red Cross (PCK) for those affected by the tragic floods that struck southern Poland in September 2024. The funds will be used for a long-term assistance program for flood victims..

The September floods that impacted the Lower Silesian, Opole, and Silesian voivodeships had catastrophic consequences, including damage to homes and infrastructure, as well as significant losses in agriculture and industry. In response to these tragic events, the Polish Red Cross, the oldest humanitarian organization in Poland, which aims to prevent human suffering and alleviate its consequences, has been actively involved in rescue operations in southern Poland since the first days of the disaster. The extensive assistance campaign includes actions by the PCK Rescue Group, a nationwide fundraising campaign, and the provision of essential items and transportation.

– The donation given by DHL is an example of a responsible approach to helping – support that does not end when emotions subside. The funds we receive allow us to implement thoughtful and situation-appropriate actions, so that assistance reaches those in need exactly when they need it most. Financial support gives us flexibility and the ability to react quickly, which is crucial in a situation where help cannot be delayed. Assistance is not only the first impulse – it is also the skill of properly managing resources. Collaboration with companies like DHL gives us the opportunity to implement comprehensive programs that include both material and psychosocial support. This support is extremely important for communities that are rebuilding their lives after the disaster today,” says Katarzyna Mikołajczyk, General Director of the Polish Red Cross.

DHL Group in Poland did not remain indifferent to these events and initially focused on ensuring the safety of its employees. It has now decided to donate 400,000 PLN to the Polish Red Cross for assistance to people affected by the floods.

– The September events that affected southern Poland reminded everyone how natural disasters can suddenly change the lives of communities and showed the power of solidarity and immediate mobilization. As a responsible company, we feel obliged to support those who find themselves in difficult situations. The scale of the needs is enormous, and the actions of the Polish Red Cross are invaluable. The donation is our expression of appreciation for their work and a contribution to the rebuilding of what has been lost,” says Tomasz Buraś, President of the Board of DHL Express Poland.

– A proactive attitude in difficult times is a priority for us, which is why we support the activities of the Polish Red Cross, which tirelessly helps communities affected by the floods. We believe that our collaboration can, at least in part, alleviate the effects of this disaster and give hope for a quicker return to normalcy for those who have been affected. This is not just a donation, but also our commitment to the reconstruction and support of local communities,” adds Petr Kana, Managing Director at DHL Supply Chain Poland.
