XXVI International School of Humanitarian Law of Armed Conflicts

The Polish Red Cross is starting recruitment for participation in the XXVI edition of the School of International Humanitarian Law of Armed Conflicts. The course will take place from April 11 to May 19, 2024, in a hybrid mode. The first four sessions will be held online from 3:00 PM to 6:15 PM on the following days: April 11, April 18, April 25,
May 9. The fifth session will take place in Warsaw from May 17 to 19 (the exact location will be provided soon).
We invite the following to participate in the course:
law, political science, international relations, journalism, and related field students who are interested in the issues of armed conflicts;
teachers and students of military schools as well as officers;
employees of non-governmental organizations working in the field of international humanitarian law or interested in this topic.
Classes will be led by experts and practitioners of international humanitarian law as well as lecturers from renowned universities and military academies, including Jagiellonian University, University of Warsaw, Naval Academy, and University of Silesia. The theoretical lectures will be accompanied by discussions. The program will cover, among others, an introduction to humanitarian education, the basic principles of international humanitarian law of armed conflicts, the prosecution and punishment of individuals guilty of committing international crimes, etc. We will publish the detailed program of the School soon.
Participation in the course will be a great opportunity to discuss humanitarian education
in Poland, and individuals particularly interested in this topic will be invited to co-create a team of volunteers at BZG PCK, which will address this issue more broadly.
The language of instruction will be Polish.
The condition for completing the XXVI School of International Humanitarian Law of Armed Conflicts and receiving a diploma is impeccable attendance at online sessions and the field session as well as active participation in classes. The total cost of participation in the course is: 650 PLN gross (the price includes meals and accommodation during the field session, etc.).
The course is organized in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage.
