The Polish Red Cross is asking for support for those affected by the floods in Slovenia. Volunteers and employees of the Slovenian Red Cross are helping the flood victims on-site. The funds raised during the collection will be used to purchase dehumidifiers and the most necessary items needed to rebuild the destroyed buildings.

At least three people have died, and hundreds are injured as a result of the floods and mudslides sweeping through Slovenia. Six rivers have reached record-high water levels there. Up to 30 percent of the country's area may be flooded.
The Slovenian army, as well as rescuers and volunteers from the Red Cross, have joined the effort. Helicopters are in action: they are helping to rescue people who have taken refuge on rooftops and in the tops of trees.
Volunteers from the Polish Red Cross (members of rescue groups and humanitarian aid groups) will deliver aid that is currently most needed to the disaster site. The Austrian Red Cross has also offered immediate support. Austria is also grappling with the effects of violent storms and rainfall.

In Slovenia, the worst situation is in the vicinity of the historic town of Škofja Loka. Some main and side roads have been cut off due to flooding. Medical staff are not always able to reach their workplaces. As always in the case of such floods and mudslides, there is a risk of an epidemic outbreak.
"The Polish Red Cross remains in constant contact with the Slovenian Red Cross (SCK). Today we received information about the needs of the Slovenian side," says Michał Mikołajczyk, a member of the Management Board of the Polish Red Cross, who spoke on Saturday [August 5] among others with SCK Secretary General Cvetka Tomin.
A marked transport from the Polish Red Cross will depart from Lublin to Slovenia tomorrow, August 6, in the morning. We are sending food with a long shelf life and thousands of hygiene packages worth approximately 0.5 million PLN from our resources. Support and humanitarian aid will be needed not only today and in the coming days, when saving human lives is most important, but also for the coming weeks and months as survivors return to normal life and rebuild their lost homes.
Everyone can help. SUPPORT US.
