The Polish Red Cross will implement the European Funds for Food Aid 2021-2027 Program (FEPŻ) from 2024, co-financed by the European Social Fund Plus – Subprogram 2024.

Assistance for those in need

FEPŻ is the direct successor of the Operational Program for Food Aid 2014-2020 (PO PŻ). The program – just like PO PŻ – is based on providing basic food assistance in the form of packages or meals to those most in need, and enabling them to participate in free workshops for social inclusion – so-called accompanying activities.

Food assistance can be utilized by individuals and families in difficult life situations who meet the statutory criteria specified in Article 7 of the Act of March 12, 2004 on Social Assistance (Journal of Laws of 2023, item 901 and 1693), with income not exceeding 265% of the income criterion qualifying for social assistance:

2,676.50 PLN for a single household;

2,180.95 PLN for a person in a family.

Referrals can be obtained at the Social Assistance Center appropriate to the place of residence.

The European Funds for Food Aid 2021-2027 Program is co-financed 90% from resources from the European Social Fund Plus and 10% from national resources. The amount of financial resources allocated for the implementation of Subprogram 2024 is about 437,000,000 PLN.

Beneficiaries of the FEPŻ program – Subprogram 2024 receive through the PCK products: vegetables and fruits (peas with carrots, strawberry jam, tomato concentrate), starchy (egg pasta spirals, wheat flour, barley groats, oatmeal, butter cookies, soluble cereal coffee), dairy (UHT milk, ripening curd cheese), meat (minced pork ham, poultry ham, pork pâté, sprats in oil), fats (rapeseed oil), ready meals (beans in Breton style) and sugars (granulated sugar, multifloral nectar honey).

The assistance offered by PCK under the FEPŻ program is not only food packages but also a range of workshops that will allow program participants to acquire skills in managing a household (i.e. culinary workshops for different generational groups with the participation of culinary experts, dietary workshops and healthy eating workshops, educational programs aimed at familiarizing with the principles of healthy eating and preventing food waste), economic education workshops (learning to create, implement, and control a household budget, economically managing a household, taking into account all financial and material income of the family, including food donations).
