Over 12,000 people trained in 157 locations, with 150 qualified instructors and trainers involved, and 99% of participants with significantly expanded knowledge of first aid and psychological first aid - these are the courses conducted by the Polish Red Cross throughout the country in November and December 2025.

The Polish Red Cross has completed a nationwide training campaign in first aid and psychological first aid, implemented with funding from the Ministry of the Interior and Administration (MSWiA) from the Social Resilience project - PROLOG 2025. The program aimed to enhance rescue competencies, increase the sense of safety, and improve social resilience in crisis situations.

99% of participants significantly expanded their knowledge

Over 12 thousand people across the country gained practical skills in saving lives and providing psychological support in emergency situations. Over 70% of participants were women, showing a growing interest in rescue topics among various social groups.

99% of surveyed participants acknowledged that after the training, they noticed a significant change in their knowledge and skills regarding first aid or psychological first aid.

Trainings in 157 locations

Trainings were conducted by over 150 qualified instructors of first aid and trainers in psychological first aid, who shared their knowledge both in large cities – provincial capitals – and in small towns from Krynica Morska to Krynica Górska.

In total, the Polish Red Cross conducted training in 157 locations. This project encompassed a wide spectrum of communities, providing access to education in rescue where it is most needed. It is important to emphasize that over 1300 people are aged 60+.

What did the PCK courses look like?

The program of individual training blocks included:

  • First Aid (PP) focused on developing practical rescue competencies, such as: assessing the condition of the injured, controlling vital signs, performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation using AED, dealing with injuries, bleeding, burns, shock, bone-joint injuries, or head and spinal injuries.

  • Psychological First Aid (PPP) aimed at preparing participants to support people in emotional crisis, using the "See, Listen, Connect" method, practical exercises, and active listening and calming techniques.

Depending on the course, participants received a suitable teaching package: a first aid workbook or publications on psychological first aid and a stress ball. Additionally, everyone received a "Safety Guide" developed by MSWiA and MON.
