„I am free – I do not get addicted”

The aim of the competition was to broaden knowledge about addiction prevention and to make young people aware of the negative effects of addictions such as nicotine, alcohol, drugs, and psychoactive substances.

The competition involved 20 schools from the Skarżysko district and the Bodzentyn Municipality, encompassing 200 students. The program concluded on June 4, 2024, in the PCRE Conference Hall in Skarżysko-Kamienna. Students took a test to check their knowledge about addictions, which summarized numerous educational activities conducted by educators, teachers, and medical personnel.

The Competition Committee, consisting of Beata Czyżewska, Janina Płaska, and Lidia Tsiupera, stated that the students demonstrated a high level of knowledge. The winners of the competition were:

– 1st place: Primary School No. 1 in Skarżysko-Kamienna (26 points) – being the first to complete the test

– 2nd place: Primary School No. 7 in Skarżysko-Kamienna (26 points)

– 3rd place: Primary School in Wzdol Rządowy (25 points)

All participants received prizes funded by the City Hall of Skarżysko-Kamienna. The awards were presented by Deputy Mayor Iwona Jeziorska, Head of the Health Department Urszula Wiśniewska, and Councilor Adam Ciok.

At the end of the program, psychologist Małgorzata Dobrowolska-Dąbrowska delivered a lecture on addiction prevention and living free from addictions. The event was organized by the Polish Red Cross with financial support from the Municipal Program for Addiction Prevention and Solving Alcohol Problems of the City Hall of Skarżysko-Kamienna.
