A destructive hurricane is approaching the shores of Jamaica. The Polish Red Cross, along with the Red Cross and Red Crescent around the world, is preparing for a devastating strike. Help Jamaica!
A hurricane like no other
Hurricane Melissa has already reached category 5 strength – the highest on the scale, with winds exceeding 252 km/h. According to forecasts, it will hit Jamaica within the next 24 hours. This is a potentially unprecedented strike – no storm of this strength has ever reached the island before.
This is happening at a time when the country is still recovering from the destruction caused by Hurricane Beryl just 16 months ago.
For Jamaica, the Red Cross worldwide
In Jamaica, the Caribbean, and Latin America, Red Cross teams are already fully mobilized. The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) and national associations are working around the clock to support preparedness activities, assist in preventive evacuations, conduct rescue operations, and pre-position food, water, and essential supplies.
The priority is to protect lives, reduce risks, and provide support to communities before Melissa strikes.

Support Jamaica!
The Polish Red Cross remains on standby to support relief efforts as part of an international network. We have launched the Fund for Relief – Jamaica, from which funds will be allocated for humanitarian assistance to those affected by the hurricane.
Everyone can help by making a donation. The collected funds will enable the delivery of clean water, food, medicines, medical supplies, and temporary shelters for affected families.
Solidarity and quick response are crucial today. Let's help together before it's too late.
