On June 14, 2025, the final of the 31st National First Aid Championships of the Polish Red Cross took place in the Bydgoszcz Forest Park of Culture and Leisure "Myślęcinek". Sixteen teams that won in regional and district stages participated in the event. As a reward, they had the honor of representing their voivodeships at the central stage.

Ceremonial opening and drawing

The teams arrived at Myślęcinek on Saturday morning and were welcomed by Monika Przybylska – President of the Kuyavian-Pomeranian District Branch of the Polish Red Cross, Krzysztof Rębacz – Director of the Polish Red Cross Branch in Bydgoszcz, and the chief and technical judges. A colorful march of teams with flags and placards of voivodeships, accompanied by music, concluded with the ceremonial opening of the Championships on the stage at Różopol. There, the team captains drew starting numbers.

Each team was assigned a guide who led participants through 16 stations located along an 8.5 km route.

Challenges and realism of scenarios

At the various stations, young rescuers encountered injuries such as: sunburns and chemical burns, heat strokes, open fractures, evisceration, incidents involving an excavator and a horse-drawn carriage, and psychiatric situations, including suicidal thoughts. The biggest challenge turned out to be a station with an injured person due to electrocution.

The realism of the accidents and the competitive atmosphere of the event led to intense emotions that accompanied the participants throughout the day. The stress of having to make quick decisions, time pressure, and the responsibility for the "lives" of the injured – although simulated – meant that adrenaline never left the teams for even a moment. Each task required not only knowledge and practical skills, but also cooperation, communication, and composure. Nonetheless, all teams rose to the occasion and handled it with flying colors!
