On September 13, we celebrate World First Aid Day, established by the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement. It is an opportunity to remind that the ability to respond quickly and appropriately can save lives.
On the occasion of World First Aid Day, the Polish Red Cross is organizing events throughout the country that not only teach but also inspire action in emergency situations. Why is this so important?
Research conducted by PBS in 2024 on behalf of the Polish Red Cross showed that:
only 60% of Poles declare that they can provide first aid,
over 54% participated in first aid courses, most often organized in schools,
as many as 66% of respondents have never provided first aid to anyone,
78% of respondents would like to gain additional knowledge on how to prepare for emergency situations.
This proves how important educational campaigns are – they not only raise awareness but can also translate into the safety of us all.

Warsaw – PCK and Municipal Guard action in the heart of the city
The PCK District Branch of Warsaw-East, in cooperation with the Municipal Guard, has prepared an educational action at six metro stations: Politechnika, Centrum, Świętokrzyska, Ratusz, Uniwersytet and Centrum Nauki Kopernik. From 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, every passer-by will be able to:
practice cardiopulmonary resuscitation on mannequins,
familiarize themselves with the use of an AED defibrillator,
receive help and advice from experienced instructors.
A total of 12 mannequins, 6 defibrillators, and 18 instructors, ready to share knowledge in an accessible form.

In addition to occasional actions, the Polish Red Cross conducts first aid courses throughout the year. To participate, you need to contact the nearest PCK district branch.
